Crime Free Multi Housing
Our Crime Free Multi-Housing Program is a program which has been designed to reduce crime, drugs, and gang problems on apartment properties. The program consists of three phases that are completed under the supervision of the Port Moody Police Department.
If you wish to participate in setting up a Crime Free Multi-housing Program in your complex, please contact the Port Moody Police Community Relations Officer by telephone at 604-461-3456 or by email at Media@portmoodypolice.com.
Bar Watch
The Port Moody Police Department is an active supporter of the Bar Watch Program.
The goal of this program is to discourage, and ultimately prevent, patrons from engaging in unlawful and uncivil behaviour that endangers other patrons, staff, and police within and outside licensed establishments. The key component of this program is the voluntarily participation of the bar owners and operators and the sharing of information.
Under this program, bar staff scan an individual’s drivers license prior to entry. If individuals are deemed to be an “undesirable” person or a “troublemaker”, by virtue of their overt behaviour or involvement in serious and/or violent criminal activities, then they are refused entry to the premises. Information collected on problematic patrons is shared among all Bar Watch Programs within the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
When unwelcome individuals are identified, either by the police or bar staff, they are escorted out of the premises by members of the Port Moody Police Department. The Port Moody Police Department supports this program because it provides citizens with a safe environment to enjoy an outing with friends.
The Provincial Liquor Licensing Board and their inspectors assist our Police Department to ensure licensed premises are being operated in accordance with the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.
