Description of Civilian Positions
Our civilian employees perform important and essential functions within the department in support our police officers. A career with PMPD allows you to work side by side with our police officers in keeping our community safe.
Some of our positions are detailed below:
Crime analysts collects, interprets, and analyzes data from crime reports, calls for service, and other law enforcement records to identify patterns, trends, and emerging public safety issues. They use geographic information systems (GIS), statistical tools, and predictive modeling to support investigations, resource deployment, and crime prevention strategies. Their work directly informs decision-making by police leadership and helps improve community safety through evidence-based policing.
The Exhibit Custodian is responsible for the administration, management, storage, security and disposal of exhibits and evidence for the Port Moody Police Department.
This position is responsible for completing electronic disclosure files for Crown Counsel. The work is highly technical in nature and is performed in support of criminal investigations.
Coordinates the timely service and maintenance of all police vehicles and equipment. In addition, this position maintains a database to record warranties, installations, service, repairs and maintenance for all vehicles and equipment.
This position analyzes and processes requests for information in order to fulfill the purposes of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, other applicable legislation, and court orders.
Our front counter staff are the first point of contact when visiting the PMPD. This customer service focused position greets visitors to PMPD, redirect phone calls, and complete police information checks and related fingerprinting. This position also performs general administrative duties.
Our IT section is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization’s technology infrastructure, ensuring that systems, networks, and applications are secure, efficient, and operational. The work supports our end-users, and implements IT solutions to meet the organization’s needs.
Our records staff are for the data entry, maintenance, storage, and retrieval of information within police database systems and hard copy files. This position creates records and performs the timely review of department operational files while ensuring information is accurate in accordance with policies and procedures.
Our Supports Services staff perform a variety of administrative tasks including transcription of a variety of investigative materials as well as submitting final packages to Crown Counsel.
Our victim services section provides direct support services to victims and witnesses of crime and other forms of trauma. Victim Services also provides crisis intervention support, emotional support, information and referrals to victims of domestic disputes and other serious incidents as well as follow-up and court support services.
